Old Mill Colonsay Details

A warm welcome awaits you at the Old Mill.   Nestling in a protected, wooded glen, the Old Mill is a restored water mill that maintains its original water wheel. Comfortably furnished inside and with a garden and lovely views of distant Loch Fada, this is a great place for a family holiday.

The Old Mill has the largest reception space - perfect for a large gathering, or a spot of impromptu Scottish dancing - of all the letting houses on the island. It also has a very specal woodland garden space, with a swing - perfect for kids to play in.

The island, "With its mysterious standing stones, hill forts and ruined chapels, Colonsay has a fascinating history and interesting wildlife is abundant. Colonsay's wildlife includes everything from seals, otters, wild goats, the occasional whale and some dolphins to numerous birds (fulmars, shags, choughs, corncrakes, buzzards and usually golden eagles to name just a few!) for the keen birdwatcher. At low tide, a mile long stretch of sand links Colonsay to the Isle of Oransay, with its famous 14th-century priory ruins and carved stones."      COUNTRY LIFE DECEMBER 2011
